DRT Bowls Pty Ltd (DRT, us, we, our) values and respects the privacy of the people we deal with. DRT is committed to protecting your personal information.
This Policy complies with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This Policy (Privacy Policy) describes how DRT may collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information, and maintain the quality and security of your personal information.
This Policy may be amended at any time by determination of DRT.

What is personal information?
“Personal information” means any information or opinion, whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an identified individual. In general terms, this includes information or an opinion that personally identifies you either directly (e.g. your name) or indirectly.

The personal information we collect about you depends on the nature of your dealings with us or what you choose to share with us. For DRT membership the personal information we collect about you may include:
- name – first and last
- mailing or street address
- email address
- phone number
- affiliated bowling club
Why does DRT Collect personal information?
DRT routinely collects personal information about you and those persons who use, access, provide or participate in DRT’s services.
DRT collects personal information to conduct its activities, including to provide services properly and efficiently to you and, where necessary, other Relevant Persons.
How does DRT use your personal information?
We use personal information for many purposes in connection with our activities, including the following purposes:
- verify your identity
- provide you with information or services that you request from us
- deliver to you a more personalised experience and service offering
- improve the quality of the services we offer by researching, developing and marketing products, services, merchandise and special offers made available by us
- administer, manage and provide you with access to the DRT website
- disclose to the public, information and contact details of bowling greens, bowling clubs and bowls program locations
- keep you informed of news and information relating to various bowls events, activities and opportunities
How does DRT collect your personal information?
We collect your personal information directly from you when you:
- interact with us over the phone
- interact with us in person
- interact with us online
- interact with us via social media
- attend a Bowls event
- subscribe to our mailing list
Providing Information
Depending on the circumstances, some types of information will be required, and others may be optional. We will give you the option to interact with us anonymously or by using a pseudonym however, if you choose to deal with us in this way or choose not to provide us with your personal information, we may not be able to provide you with our services or otherwise interact with you.
How does DRT collect personal information from third parties?
DRT may also collect your personal information from third parties or through publicly available sources, for example from a relevant bowling club, Sport Australia and Sport Integrity Australia.
If DRT collects personal information about you from any other third party not mentioned in this Policy, then DRT will first endeavour to obtain your consent (unless such consent has already been provided). If that is not possible then DRT will only obtain the information from a third party, if that is reasonably necessary for DRT to provide services to you and where reasonably necessary, other Relevant Persons or to otherwise comply with any applicable laws or regulations. In any event, DRT will inform you where reasonably practicable about such collections and will use such personal information only in accordance with this Policy.
Where DRT receives unsolicited personal information about you from a third party, then that information will be dealt with in accordance with this Policy and the Privacy Act.
How does DRT disclose this personal information to third parties?
DRT may, with prior written consent of your State and Territory Association, from time to time, disclose your personal information to third party organisations. We may disclose your personal information to:
- State and Territory Associations and bowls clubs
- Sporting bodies such as Sport Australia, Sport Integrity Australia, various National sporting bodies amongst others
- our marketing providers
- our professional service advisors
How does DRT protect your personal information?
DRT Bowls Pty Ltd will take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information that we hold about you is kept confidential and secure, including by:
- having a robust physical security of our premises and databases / records
- taking measures to restrict access to only personnel who need that personal information to effectively provide services to you
- having technological measures in place (for example, anti-virus software, fire walls)

We may send you direct marketing communications and information about our services, opportunities, or events that we consider may be of interest to you if you have requested or consented to receive such communications. In addition, we may also use your personal information or disclose your personal information to third parties for the purposes of advertising, including online behavioural advertising, website personalisation, and to provide targeted or retargeted advertising content to you (including through third party websites).
DRT Website
Where a user of DRT website provides DRT with information (including when communicating with DRT, registering as a member of DRT or otherwise requesting or acquiring goods or services from DRT) then any personal information provided by the user shall be collected, used and disclosed in accordance with this Policy.
As you are probably aware there are inherent risks associated with the transmission of information via the internet. If you have concerns in this regard, DRT has other ways of obtaining and providing information. Postal mail and telephone.

DRT website may contain links to websites operated by third parties. If you access a third-party website through our website, personal information may be collected by that third party website. We make no representations or warranties in relation to the privacy practices of any third-party provider or website, and we are not responsible for the privacy policies or the content of any third-party provider or website. Third party providers / websites are responsible for informing you about their own privacy practices and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
Retention of personal information
We will not keep your personal information for longer than we need to. In most cases, this means that we will only retain your personal information for the duration of your relationship with us unless we are required to retain your personal information to comply with applicable laws, for example record-keeping obligations.
How to access and correct your personal information
DRT will endeavour to keep your personal information accurate, complete and up to date.
If you wish to make a request to access and / or correct the personal information we hold about you, you should make a request by contacting us and we will usually respond within [30] days. We will deal with such a request by following the procedure outlined below:
- contact DRT and ask them to correct it. Only you or a person you authorise, such as a legal guardian or authorised agent, can request the correction of your personal information.
- If you ask, in most cases we must give you access to the personal information that we hold about you and take reasonable steps to correct it if we consider it is incorrect. We will try to make the process as simple as possible.
- Access - will ask you to verify your identity before it gives you access to your information or the ability to correct it.

Please allow up to 30 days for DRT to respond to your complaint. It will not always be possible to resolve a complaint to everyone’s satisfaction. If you are not satisfied with DRT’s response to a complaint, you have the right to contact the Office of Australian Information Commissioner (www.oaic.gov.au) to lodge a complaint.

Definitions
In this Policy, the following words mean:
- “DRT, us, we and our” means DRT Bowls Pty Ltd
- “Personal Information” is information or an opinion (including information or an opinion forming part of a database) from which it is possible to determine someone’s identity.
- “Policy” means this Privacy Policy
- “Privacy Act” means key legislation protecting the handling of personal information.
- “Relevant Person” means the director and officer of DRT, bowlers and clubs across Australia, volunteers, spectators and any other person who agrees to be or is otherwise bound by this Policy.
